The recipient of Southeast University’s first Young Faculty Teaching and Research Funding Program (2003), selected in 2006 for the Ministry of Education’s “New Century Talent Support Program” and Jiangsu Province’s “Qinglan Project” training program, became a Jiangsu Province “Six Talent Peaks” training candidate (Category A) in 2008, and was honored with the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Award in 2015. He has received honors including Outstanding Communist Party Member of Southeast University, Advanced Individual in the Pioneer and Excellence Competition, and Excellent Supervisor of Southeast University. He currently serves concurrently as the Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee on Ship Instruments and Equipment of the China Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, director of the China Instrument and Control Society, director of the China Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, director of the China Ocean Engineering Consulting Association, vice chairman of the Jiangsu Association for Scientific Instrumentation, secretary general of the 10th Council of the Jiangsu Instrument and Control Society, member of the Jiangsu Graduate Education Steering Committee for Engineering (Category 1), member of the 10th Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology, invited reviewer for over 60 high-level domestic and international SCI/EI journals, communication review expert for various National Natural Science Foundation of China projects including General, Key, and Outstanding Youth programs, communication reviewer for national and Ministry of Education scientific projects and award evaluations, and the “Ten Thousand Talents Plan,” among others.

Prof. Hui Yuan, Shandong University, China

【Bio】

Hui Yuan (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. In April 2011, he joined Shandong University, Ji’nan, China, as a Lecturer, an Associate Professor, and a Professor (September 2016). From January 2013 to December 2014, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow (Granted by the Hong Kong Scholar Project) with the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong. From November 2020 to November 2021, he worked as a Marie Curie Fellow (Granted by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship under Horizon2020 Europe) with the School of Engineering and Sustainable Development, De Montfort University, Leicester, U.K. From October 2021 to November 2021, he also worked as a visiting researcher (secondment of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships) with the Computer Vision and Graphics group, Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI), Germany. His current research interests include 3D visual coding, processing, and communication (especially 3D video and 3D point clouds).

Prof. Yuan serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (since 2026.01), IEEE Transactions on Image Processing (since 2025.01), IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics (from since 2024.06), IEEE Signal Processing Letters (since 2025.08), IET Image Processing (since 2023.05), an Area Chair for IEEE ICME (since 2020).

Dr. Yang Zhao is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, currently serving as the Director of the Weihai Key Laboratory of Intelligent Photoacoustic Detection and Sensing Technology. His primary research focuses on cross-medium (air-sea) detection and communication technology, as well as ultrasonic testing and signal processing technology. He has led or participated in numerous significant research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Science Fund, NSFC General Program, International Science & Technology Cooperation Program (Ministry of Science and Technology), Key Technology Project for Major Accident Prevention in National Work Safety, Shandong Provincial Natural Science Youth Fund, Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation General Program, Shandong Outstanding Young Scientist Award Fund, Shandong Key R&D Program, Shandong Innovation Industrial Cluster Special Project, and Shandong Major Innovation Engineering Project.
